Resize Photo to 20 KB Online

Make any photo 20 KB or smaller for an online form. Add your photo, set the pixel size your form asks for and download a clear JPG under 20 KB. Your photo never leaves your phone or computer.

What does the form ask for?

Or paste the rules from your notification

For example: “Signature: 140 x 60 pixels, file size 10 KB to 20 KB, JPG”. Paste one document at a time.

Upload rules

You will get a 350 × 450 pixel JPG of at most 20 KB. The form has no fixed pixel size, so we use a good default. You can change it.We aim for 0 to 20,000 bytes. This passes whether the form counts 1 KB as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes.

Your image stays on this device. It is never uploaded.

How to reduce a photo to 20 KB

  • Add your photo with “Choose your image”. On a phone you can pick it from the gallery or take a new one.
  • The tool is already set to a maximum of 20 KB. If your form also gives a minimum, such as 10 KB, type it in “Minimum size (KB)”.
  • If the form gives a width and height in pixels, type them in. If it gives a size in cm, paste the rule line and the tool converts it.
  • Drag and zoom so your face fills most of the frame, then press download. The file is a normal JPG under 20 KB.

Will my photo look bad at 20 KB?

Not if the pixel size is sensible. A JPG’s KB size depends mostly on how many pixels it has. A 200 × 230 pixel photo, the size most bank forms use, looks sharp at 15–20 KB. A 1000 × 1000 pixel photo squeezed into 20 KB will look blotchy, because the same amount of data has to describe five times as many pixels.

So if your form lets you choose, a smaller pixel size gives a cleaner 20 KB photo. The tool always tries the highest quality first and only lowers it as much as needed to stay under the limit.

Which forms ask for a photo under 20 KB?

Many state government, university, scholarship and older recruitment portals limit the photo to 20 KB, often with a minimum of 5 or 10 KB. Some forms say “between 10 KB and 20 KB” and reject a file that is too small as well as one that is too large. The tool handles both ends of the range.

Common mistakes when compressing to 20 KB

  • Shrinking the photo in an app that saves it as PNG. Most forms only take JPG, and a PNG photo is usually much larger.
  • Cropping by hand so the size is 201 × 229 instead of 200 × 230. The tool always makes the exact pixel size you type.
  • Using a photo that is 19.8 KB on your phone but 20.3 KB on the form. Some systems count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes and others as 1,024. The tool picks a size that passes both ways.
  • Zipping or renaming the file. Changing “.png” to “.jpg” in the name does not convert it, and the form can tell.

Questions

How do I reduce photo size to 20 KB on my phone?

Open this page in Chrome or Safari, add your photo, check that “Maximum size (KB)” says 20 and download. It works the same on Android and iPhone, and you do not need to install an app.

Can I make a photo exactly 20 KB?

Forms accept any file inside their range, so the tool aims a little under the maximum, for example 18–19.5 KB for a 20 KB limit. That leaves a safe margin for portals that count KB differently.

My photo is 15 KB but the form needs at least 20 KB. What do I do?

Type 20 in “Minimum size (KB)”. The tool first saves at a higher quality, and if the file is still too small it adds empty padding inside the JPG to reach the minimum. The photo itself does not change.
